The first season is airing repeat episodes on BBC One from tonight (Tuesday 30th July), and so there's no better time to get stuck into the drama.

Sure, the future of the show is currently uncertain and fans are desperate to see more episodes, but at least there are two seasons available for your enjoyment.

  Kin is an Irish crime drama television series, co-created by Peter McKenna and Ciaran Donnelly, that first broadcast on 9 September 2021, on RTÉ One. The series revolves around a fictional Dublin family embroiled in gangland war and stars Aidan Gillen and Ciarán Hinds as rival gang leaders Frank Kinsella and Eamon Cunningham.

  The series was first announced in November 2020, with co-creator Peter McKenna set as showrunner and Diarmuid Goggins as director of the first four episodes.^[1] Tessa Hoffe was later announced as director of episodes five to eight.^[2] In February 2022, the series premiered in the United States and Canada on AMC+,^[3] with Sundance Now premiering the series in the UK. A second series was announced on 10 February 2022, with production beginning in July.^[4][5]

  Season one saw the family mob up against Eamon Cunningham, while the dramatic finale of season two left viewers stunned.

  But any hope RTE had of reuniting the star-studded cast for a third series is now gone as their contracts have run out.

  An insider told us: "RTE must be tearing their hair out that an Irish TV drama, Kin, is now one of the top five most watched shows on the BBC iPlayer, and they can’t make any more seasons."
