Jonathan J. "Jon" Rubinstein (born October 1956) is an American electrical engineer who played an instrumental role in the development of the iMac and iPod,[1] the portable music and video device first sold by Apple Computer Inc. in 2001. He left his position as senior vice president of Apple's iPod division on April 14, 2006.

He became executive chairman of the board at Palm, Inc., after private equity firm Elevation Partners completed a significant investment in the handheld manufacturer in October 2007.[2] He became CEO of Palm in 2009, replacing former CEO Ed Colligan.[3] Following Hewlett-Packard Co.'s purchase of Palm on July 1, 2010, Rubinstein became an executive at HP. On January 27, 2012, Rubinstein announced he had officially left HP.[4][5]

John Rubinstein (Pippin) played the role of Warren Smith in the national touring company of On A Clear Day You Can See Forever and appeared in Mark Sills’ Mark Taper Forum production of Ovid’s Metamorphoses. He starred in the title role of Zachariah and was featured in such films as Journey to Shiloh, Getting Straight, The Chautauqua, The Wild Pack, and three television world-premiere movies God Bless the Children, A Howling in the Woods and Something Evil. His numerous television credits include The Virginians, Room 222, Mary Tyler Moore Show, Ironsides, The Young Lawyers, Mod Squad, Matt Lincoln, Nichols, Cannon, The Psychiatrist, CBS Playhouse, Hawaii Five-O, The Bold Ones, and the pilot for the new fall series, The Street of San Francisco starring Karl Malden. Rubinstein is the son of Polish parents. His mother, Aniela (née Młynarska), a dancer and writer, was a Roman Catholic native of Warsaw, the daughter of conductor Emil Młynarski. His father was Polish-Jewish concert pianist Arthur Rubinstein.[3][4][5][6] He attended El Rodeo
