Brett Ratner (born March 28, 1969) is an American film director and music-video director. He was born in Miami Beach, Florida and graduated from New York University Film School. He is the executive producer of all current 44 episodes of Prison Break and is the director of the episode "Pilot".
Biography
Brett Ratner was born in Miami Beach to Marcia Ratner, a Cuban-born Jewish socialite. Ratner directed music videos before reaching commercial success with the action-comedy Rush Hour (1998), starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, both of whom reunited with Ratner for a sequel, Rush Hour 2 (2001). Ratner was under consideration to direct X-Men (2000) and Superman Returns (2006), although both were eventually directed by Bryan Singer. After Singer left the X-Men franchise to direct Superman Returns, Ratner coincidentally became director of X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). Ratner finished directing "Perfect Dark" a picture about San Fransico in the 1920's starring Meryl Streep, Billy Bob Thorton, Josh Duhamel and introducing Matthew Saunders in early 2007. Brett Ratner (born March 28, 1969)[1] is an American film director and producer. He directed the Rush Hour film series, The Family Man, Red Dragon, X-Men: The Last Stand, Tower Heist, and Hercules. He is a producer of several films, including the Horrible Bosses series, as well as executive producer on other projects, including the films The Revenant and War Dogs[2][3][4] and the television series Prison Break.
Ratner got his start directing with music videos in the 1990s,[5] and directed his first motion picture, Money Talks, in 1997.[6] Overall, the films Ratner has directed have earned over $2 billion at the global box office.[5] Ratner is the co-founder of RatPac Entertainment, a film production company.
