The Vancouver International Flamenco Festival (Flamenco Festival) is proud to present the anticipated, Vancouver premiere performance of the sensuous and scintillating Andrés Peña and Pilar Ogalla Company, tonight, September 19, 2015 at 8pm in the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre. The sizzling couple, each a former pupil of Spain's most revered flamenco masters, reveal their rapid-fire footwork, flawless synchronization, and impassioned duende in Cadiz de la Frontera, a work that melds influences of two flamenco capitals -- Jerez and Cadiz.

The young cantaora Lidia Montero (born in Villaverde del Río, Seville province, in 1987) was in charge of kicking off the XIII Ciclo Dedicado a la Mujer Gaditana en el Flamenco 2019 (13th Series Dedicated to the Women of Cadiz in Flamenco 2019) on the evening of October 4th. Joined by the Armenian artist and guitarist Vahan and the percussion of Julio Prenda, she presented her show Flamenco Social, which deals with the topic of inclusion.

Malagueñas, tientos tangos, milonga, soleá por bulería, cantiñas, seguiriyas and fandangos were in the repertoire offered by this cantaora to the aficionados who filled Peña Flamenca Juanito Villar to capacity.

Located at the foot of the famous Caleta beach in Cádiz, the mythical Peña Flamenca Juanito Villar has been organizing this series since 2007. Except for the first edition, every and each series has been dedicated to renowned female artists of Cádiz, women who have bolstered flamenco in this city and have showcased its art all over the world. The excitement of the unknown, the fear of failure, the joy of sharing our life journey. Shown through images built with bodies and the senses, images give way to dance and music as the only language to know and understand each other. “De Paso” is a show that talks about the path we travel on our journey around the world, and as a meeting point where different lives, temperaments, and emotions intersect.

Sara Pérez, Choreographer and Dancer. Born in Madrid, Sara Pérez began her studies in flamenco and graduated with an honors degree. Her professional career began at the Carlos Vilán Company and at the Madrid Flamenco Ballet. In 2013, Pérez joined tablao El Corral de la Morería. Later with the Casa Patas Foundation, she starred in several international tours. In 2016, Pérez joined the María Pagés Company.  

In 2015, she presented “Earth Colors” at the Brasilia International Dance Seminar. With another of her creations, "De Paso,” Pérez obtained the second prize for choreography at the XXVI Spanish Dance and Flamenco Choreography Contest in Madrid and the
