Annihilator meaning

SPIRIT OF METAL

Canadian thrashers Annihilatorare the brainchild of guitarist Jeff Waters, whose revolving-door policy has elevated the band\'s high musician turnover to Spinal Tapproportions. Released to both public and critical acclaim at the height of the thrash metal boom, their 1989 debut Alice In Hellwas hardly a band effort. Though they are pictured on the sleeve with Waters (who wrote, produced, and played guitar and bass on the entire album), vocalist RandyRampage, drummer Ray Hartmann, bassist Wayne Darley, and guitarist Anthony Greenham were little more than hired guns, and only the first two actually performed on the disc. Not surprisingly, both Rampage and Greenham were gone by the release of the following year\'s Never, Neverland, replaced by Coburn Pharr on vocals and Dave Scott Davis (where do they come up with these names?) on guitar. Annihilator (band)

Canadian thrash metal band

Annihilator is a Canadian thrash metal band founded in Ottawa in 1984 by Jeff Waters. Waters is the band's sole constant member and has acted as its guitarist, bandleader, writer, producer, engineer, and occasional bassist and vocalist. Annihilator has released seventeen studio albums and has undergone many line-up changes, with Waters regularly assembling touring or session musicians to perform with him. Along with Sacrifice, Voivod and Razor, Annihilator has been referred to as one of the "Big Four" of Canadian thrash metal.[1] They are also considered to be part of the "second wave" of thrash metal bands from the late 1980s and early 1990s.[2][3]

Annihilator is the highest-selling Canadian heavy metal group,[4] although most sales have been generated outside of Canada. The band's first two studio albums, Alice in Hell (1989) and Never, Neverland (1990), are considered to be influential Canadian metal records. Many of their later albums — including their third and only major-label al

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Canadian metal band Annihilator is the lifework of guitarist Jeff Waters and they took the metal scene by storm in 1984 with their debut album Alice In Hell. While most late-80’s era metal bands disappeared, Annihilator went on to forge 11 more releases and remaining true to the heavy metal cause. Tours with everyone from Judas Priest to Pantera to Trivium, plus dozens of headlining tours and festivals around the world, have been going on steady since 1989 for this band. Dave Padden is a classic vocalist/guitarist frontman a la James Hetfield and the band is consistently tearing through each release with honest, raw power and energy, along with excellent technical skill and a live show that is considered one of the best in the business. Honest melodic thrash metal. A major influence on countless metal acts and musicians around the world.
