OPINION - Profile - Daft for Coke - Douglas Daft - President and chief operating officer - Coca-Cola

Change is afoot at Coca-Cola. Chairman and chief executive Douglas

Ivester resigned last Sunday in a blaze of publicity, after just two

years at his post. His replacement is 56-year-old Coke veteran Douglas N

Daft, who has been appointed president and chief operating officer and

"But it's hard not to like Doug Daft, and he is more open than most Coke guys."

Daft, 56, is set to take over the Atlanta soft drink giant after this week's surprise announcement that chairman and chief executive M. Douglas Ivester would retire in April.

"Counter to what the Sprite commercials say, for the Coca-Cola Co. image is everything," Merrill Lynch analyst Doug Lane said. "We believe the change at the top will also signal a change in management style for the company. Once again, Co
