Svetlana Smolina has performed with orchestras and given recitals worldwide – with the New York Philharmonic at Avery Fisher, Mariinsky Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Orchestre National de France, Salzburg Festival at Mozarteum, Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Ravinia Rising Stars in Chicago, White Nights in Saint Petersburg, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Mikkeli Festival Finland, Ruhr Klavier in Germany, Moscow Easter Festival, Rotterdam Philharmonic, at the Stresa Festival, Hanoi Opera House, London ́s Royal Opera Covent Garden, Tchaikovsky Conservatoire Moscow and Rome ́s Accademia Santa Cecilia. 

Her recordings include a solo album “Romantic Journey” on Universal Music Label, Chopin album for iTunes, Scriabin on Pentatone, with Christopher O’Riley at a live concert in Montana, the Britten concerto from a live concert at Disney Hall in Los Angeles, and broadcasts for NPR, WQXR, BBC, PBS, RAI, Kultura TV and other networks. Her recording with Valery Gergiev of Stravinsky ́s Les Noces received an ICMA award.

Svetlana Smolina is a Concert pianist.

Early life and education

Smolina is a recipient of the “New Names” scholarship program in Russia.[citation needed], and has a DMA from the University of Michigan, as well as an MM, BM and Artist Diplomas from Indiana University, Oberlin Conservatory, Brussels Royal Conservatory and Balakirev Music College.

Career

Smolina has performed with orchestras such as Mariinsky Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, New York Philharmonic at Avery Fisher, St.Petersburg Philharmonic, Orchestra National de France, Odessa and Nizhny Novgorod Philharmonic, Pittsburgh Symphony, New Florida Philharmonic, Shreveport Symphony, and New York Chamber Orchestra. She has performed at venues including Salzburg Festival, Hollywood Bowl, Ravinia Rising Stars, White Nights, Maggio Musicale, Mikkeli, Ruhr, Easter, Rotterdam Phillips Gergiev, International Gilmore, Settimane Musicali di Stresa and many others.

December 9, 2018
Svetlana performed at Los Angeles Bing Theater together with Christopher O Riley. Their two piano concert was broadcasted  Live on Air.


January 12, 2019
Svetlana debuted at the “ Great Pianists of the World “ Steinway recital series in Illinois.

The audience gave Smolina and the orchestra one of the most extended standing ovations ever during an ECSO concert.”


February 5-6, 2019
Svetlana attended inauguration of Irish American University’s Instructional Site The Film Scoring Academy in Europe in Dublin , Ireland.

She is appointed as the Piano Director for their new MFA program starting  in 2020 – MFA in Piano Performance / Pedagogy / Recording in Sofia, Bulgaria.
